Evans Bay Laundry

The Evans Bay laundry which handled about 3 million items every year. Immediately behind was the subsidiary Wellington Patent Slip Company which was engaged in ship repair work and was one of the main stores for the Company. Union Company also owned workshops at Port Chalmers, Sydney and Auckland. Across Evans Bay in the photo above were the Company fuel tanks which stored about 40,000 tons of marine fuel. They also had tanks at Sydney and Auckland.
