Details
DescriptionBuilt 1906 by G Seebeck at Bremerhaven as steam ship. Dimensions: 45 x 9 x 3.43 metres. Traded in River Plate area until 1918 then returned to Europe. In 1926 sold to Australian owners H C Sleigh and renamed MARION SLEIGH trading out of Darwin and later Sydney-Newcastle run. Sold to Captain Watchlin of Auckland in 1932 and renamed PORT WHANGAREI. First charted by Holm & Company in 1938. Requisitioned as KG28 and saw service during WW2 mainly based in New Caledonia. Bought by Holm in 1944 and renamed HOLMBURN remaining in service until 1954 when sold to New Caledonian interests. She was wrecked at Lord Howe Island 4 months later.
