Built by Hawthorn Leslie, Newcastle in 1951. Length 150 metres. Single crew diesel. Speed 15.5 knots. GT 8,114. Similar to PORT NELSON. When built had a single raked mast forward of the bridge but vibration when underway resulting in it been replaced by a set of samson posts. She followed PORT BRISBANE and PORT AUCKLAND but is not as streamlined. In 1963 commenced the Crusader Line service from NZ to the Far East.
