Additional NotesOne of the most graceful and popular vessels owned by Union Company. Designed for Wellington Lyttelton ferry service. Made excursions on holiday weekends to the Marlborough Sounds. On New Years Day 1933 is recorded as taking 2020 passengers from Wellington to Picton in 2 hours 15 minutes at 23.11 knots. A number of incidents in her career included running aground in heavy weather at Sinclair Head outside Wellington Harbour on 2 February 1936, ran aground in dense fog in Pigeon Bay outside Lyttelton on 29 December 1940, and ran aground at Tory Channel on 25 December 1959. During the second world war made a number of trips to Fiji with troops. Some say she was the best looking ship that Union Company owned. Laid up at Wellington on 16 Dec 1965. Sold to Hong Kong shipbreakers in 1967 and towed there by tug FUJI MARU.
