Description<p>Built by John Brown, Clydebank. Sister ship to RANGITIKI and RANGITANE. 16700 tons. Length 168 metres. Twin screw motor. Speed 15 knots. 600 passengers. This and RANGITIKI remained in service until 1962 and were very popular with the thousands of immigrants tourists and business passengers. RANGITANE was sunk on 17 November 1940 in enemy action east of new Zealand by the raiders KOMET, ORION and KULMERLAND.
